A Comparision Between Using Runge Kutta Method and Matrix Method to Analyze Non Uniform Long Optical Fiber Grating

In terms of several specified examples, we had compared the matrix method with the Runge Kutta method on analyzing the characteristics of the non uniform gratings in this paper. The results show that the matrix method is suitable for non uniform long gratings, which calculates rapidly with a better precision. The Runge-Kutta method has been widely adopted. However, it is always affected by the chance of the integral setting. When the integral setting is proper, the result is almost the same as that of the matrix method, but this would spend a longer time on calculating.
