The Effects of Synthesis Condition on Single Gas Permeation Performance of High Silica SSZ-13 Zeolite Membrane

High silica SSZ-13 zeolite membranes are prepared on the outer surface of the porous mullite support by secondary hydrothermal synthesis. Effect of synthesis conditions,such as SiO_2/Al_2O_3 and H_2O/SiO_2 ratios of the precursor synthesis gel,crystallization time and temperature,on the single gas permeation performance of high silica SSZ-13 zeolite membranes are studied in details in this work. The CO_2 and CH4 single gas permeation performance of high silica SSZ-13 zeolite membranes are greatly depended on the Si/Al ratio of the precursor gel,the high silica SSZ-13 zeolite membranes shows well gas separation performance for CO_2/CH4 separation. The initial synthesis gel with the medium H_2O/SiO_2 ratio and crystallization conditions are crucial to zeolite crystals morphology,zeolite layer thickness and single gas permeation performance of high silica SSZ-13 zeolite membrane. When the molar composition of the precursor synthesis gel,the crystallization temperature and time are 1. 000 SiO_2∶ 0. 100 Na2 O∶ 0. 100 TMAda OH∶ 80. 000 H_2O ∶ 0. 005 Al_2O_3,160 ℃ and 48 h,the CO_2 permeances is 3. 0 × 10-7 mol ·m-2·s-1·Pa-1 and CO_2/CH4 separation factor of the as-synthesized SSZ-13 zeolite membrane is 39.
