The Synthesis and Characterization of Epoxy terminated Phenolphthalein Poly(cyanoarylether)

A Series of Epoxy terminated Poly(cyanophenolphthaleinether) (E PCE) have been prepared by the reaction of epichlorohydrin with PCE oligomer having —OK terminated groups,which were prepared by the nucleophillic aromatic substitution of phenolphthalein (PPH) with 2,6 dichlorobenzonitrile using K 2CO 3 as catalysts. The E PCE were characterized by FT IR and 1 H NMR spectra and DSC,the epoxy value (E),dissolubility,number average molecular weight(M n ),and molecular weight distributions of the resins were also measured.The effects of the molar ratios of monomer,reaction temperature,contents of the catalyst and water on the reaction have been examined.
