The Xichuan area is situated in the southern slope of Er.stem Qinling Mts, where the Early Carboniferous strata were well developed, consisting of a set of normal shallow marine carbonate deposits up to a thickness over 1000m. The lower and upper parts of Lower Carboniferous in the area ere named the Xiaji Fm. and the Lianggou I'm.respectively .The former is chiefly dolomitic limestones, and the latter is composed mainly of limestones, dolomitic limestones with intercalated cherts. The Lower Carboniferous contains abundant coral fossils that mainly appear in the upper position of the Lianggou Fm. .The coral fauna are generally similar to those of the South China. Both belong to the same coral province. This paper describes 8 genera and 9 species of Rugosa, among which 8 species are new find 1 species of Heteraphyllia is undetermined.
