~(40)Ar-~(39)Ar Isotope Chronology of the Buerkesidai Gold Deposit, Xinjiang

Buerkesidai gold deposit is one of the important gold deposits in east segment of the Sawuer Mountain, Northern Xinjiang. Two quartz (formed in ore-forming stage) samples collected from the Buerkesidai gold deposit were determined by ()~(40)Ar-~(39)Ar fast-neutron activation techniques, and their spectra are characterized by the saddle-shape. The samples obtained plateau ages of (335.53±0.32) Ma and (336.16±0.39) Ma, minimum appearance ages of (334.85±8.25) Ma and (334.55±10.25) Ma and isochron ages of (335.53±1.19) Ma and (336.78±0.50) Ma respectively. The three ages are close to each other, indicating the reliability of the ages of the quartz samples. The plateau ages belong to Hercynian epoch and could represent the forming age of the gold-bearing quartz vein. Gold metallogenesis in northern Xinjiang is thought to be related to collision orogeny.
