The application research on the tetrabasic lead sulfate in the lead-acid batteries

In this paper, by SEM and XRD, the influences of different curing methods on the content of tetrabasic lead sulfate(4 BS) in the positive plate of lead-acid battery were analyzed. It was found that the content of 4 BS increased dramatically when the curing temperature was higher than 60 ℃. At the same time, the influence of 4 BS additive on the state of lead paste at different paste mixing temperature, and phase composition of paste at different curing phase were studied. The obtained results showed that the sizes of 4 BS crystals were less than 20 μm, but the high paste mixing temperature may facilitate to increase the size of 4 BS.
