Linguistic Theories in the Process of Teaching Ancient Chinese

REN Xiao-tong(College of Liberal Arts,Inner Mongolia Normal University,Hohhot,010022,China)
Although a lot of restrictive factors make teaching or learning linguistic theories a quite difficult job,it has been proven that integrating some linguistic theories and approaches into the process of teaching Ancient Chinese is an effective way to improve the teaching ability. For example, the articulate features of modal particles in ancient Chinese can complement and improve Saussure's principles of arbitrariness.Another instance is study on synonyms and phonetic evolutions in ancient Chinese are helpful for students to understand Martient's economic principle of language. Also some grammatical formation in ancient Chinese shows evidence of the strong explanation capability of Chomsky's generative grammar.
