Reflections on Art and Design Education of Art Colleges in Comprehensive Universities

The extent of art education in China ranks the first in the world,in which art colleges in comprehensive universities play a very important role.Therefore,these institutes have to distinguish themselves from other art colleges and engineering colleges from the perspective of art education.Art colleges in comprehensive universities ought to develop their unique characteristics on the basis of integrating their staff resources as well as subject strengths.In the light of some less satisfactory teaching phenomenon existing in art colleges of comprehensive universities,the paper puts forward some realistic solutions:the uniqueness can be achieved by changing the featureless curriculum setup;the subjects and courses are offered on the basis of economic development;the education of humanistic knowledge among students has to be emphasized for the sake of combining general education with professional education;design education should be closely related with life.Hence,the art college in comprehensive universities can develop smoothly.
