The Pursuit of Robustness,Independence and Balance——A Commentary on Review of the Australian Curriculum

LIU Tian;CUI Youxing;Faculty of Education,Southwest University;
Three years after Australian Curriculum issued,in January 2014,the government formally established the Panel to evaluate the robustness,independence and balance of the Australian Curriculum by reviewing both the development process and content,and finally published a Report—Review of the Australian Curriculum. This report illustrated the reviews from the following respects: development and implementation of the Australian Curriculum,the structure of the Australian Curriculum,learning areas of the Australian Curriculum and future reforms to governance for curriculum development. There are four enlightenments by analyzing the Report. Firstly,pay more attention to students' key competences and the guidance of potential value. Secondly,set up a professional academic assessment team and promote institutionalized and normalized development in curriculum. Then,cultivate students' multicultural competence. Finally,create a "top-down" mechanism and promote public understanding of the Australian Curriculum.
