The Third Party in American Higher Education Evaluation System——A Case Study Based on ABET

Affected by the quality crisis of engineering education,decentralization of education and traditional professionalism,the United States established the Accreditation Board for engineering and Technology( ABET). As a third party organization independent of the government and the market system,ABET has the characteristics of non-government,non-profit,professional and voluntary. Through the professional certification,policy advocacy and information transfer,ABET has promoted the continuous improvement of the higher education quality. The experience of ABET has certain reference value for the promotion of the separation of management,operation and evaluation of higher education as well as the construction of the third party education evaluation system.
