The Application and Problems of Statistical Method in Theses—2011-2015 Grade Undergraduate from Sichuan Province

To determine the application and problems of statistical method in undergraduate theses of a school in Sichuan province so as to provide reference for making improvement measures and reform in statistics teaching,5 000 undergraduates' graduation theses in2011,2012,2013,2014 and 2015 were collected in the school,and the categories,frequencies and defects of the statistic methods in these theses were investigated and evaluated. Results showed that among these theses,3 829( 76. 58%) used statistic methods involving16 kinds of statistics methods,including 2 kinds of statistical description,i. e.,statistical figure( 86. 20%) and statistical table( 71.25%),and 14 kinds of statistical inference,i. e.,2 test( 47. 95%),T test( 30. 45%),variance analysis( 24. 76%),logistic regression( 14. 81%) and so on. Among 3 829 theses with statistic methods,3 426( 89. 47%) theses had statistic defects,and among the various disciplines,the significance of statistic defects exhibited a consistent decreasing trend: science agriculture medicine engineering.Thus,the problems in statistical methods using exist in graduation theses are increasing year by year,which needs urgent improvement.
