RAY TRACING OF THE SQUARE OF SLOWNESS AND NONLINEAR SEISMIC TRAVELTIME TOMOGRAPHY

Reconstruction of seismic wave-speed distributions is nonlinear.Seismic ray path is analytically calculated assuming a model of the square of slowness. For the model composed of a grid withvalues of model assigned at the grid points,a nonnegative matrix is formed. It is similar to the ray path matrix of a block model. Considering the properties of a nonnegative matrix,the natural weight matrices are introduced for weighted least-squares problem by the analysis of the special generalized eigenvalue problem. And a regularized solution is constrained to lie in the hyperplane of constant toeal traveltime.
