Engine Waste Heat Recovery Based on Organic Rankine Cycle System

According to the characteristics of the exhaust heat of diesel engine,an organic Rankine cycle(ORC) system was proposed to recover the waste heat.R245fa(1,1,1,3,3-pentaflu-oropropane) was used as the working fluid in the ORC system.Based on the validated experimental data of the engine and evaporation rate under different evaporating pressure,the effect of the two-phase fluid on the performance of system was analyzed.The optimal operating condition of the system was confirmed by the system network,efficiency,and irreversible loss of main components.The results showed that when the optimal operating condition is selected,the system can work stably under the whole range of the exhaust mass flow rates.The ORC efficiency is 10.2%,and irreversible loss of main components is in a low level,which leads to an obvious effect of waste heat recovery.
