Effects of Tannic Acid on Growth and Reproduction of Red and Green Pea Aphid(Acyrthosiphon pisum)

To clarifying the effects of tannic acid on growth and reproduction of red and green-pea aphids,this paper reported on the survival rate,average progeny produced,and relative average daily growth rate of pea aphids under five different concentrations of tannic acid.The results showed that increasing concentrations of tannic acid have inhibitory effects on growth and reproduction of aphids.Furthermore,the inhibitory effects on green pea aphids were significantly greater than that on red pea aphid.After 12 days the survival rate and relative growth rate values of green pea aphids were 13.3±3.3%,0.20±0.01%,respectively,when the concentration was 5 mg·L-1,and those of red pea aphids were 20.0±5.8%,0.19±0.00%,respectively;the difference with the control(CK)was significantly(P 0.05).Also,at the concentration of 5 mg·L-1,the litter size and rate of birth of green pea aphid was lowest(2.0/single females and 6.7±3.3%),and showed significant difference compared with control(P 0.05).This report would provide guidance for the research of the biochemical resistance mechanismes of secondary metabolites to pea aphid.
