EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES IN THE EFFECTS OF STATIC MAGNETIC FIELDS ON HUMAN PULP LIPID PEROXI DE AND ANTI-OXIDATIVE FUNCTION

In order to evaluate the effects of static magnetic fields on human pulp lipid peroxide and anti-oxidative function,the righe upper and lower first normal bicuspid premolars in vivo were treaed with the static magnetic fields in 15 orthodontic patients. After one week,2,3,4 and 5 weeks of the magnetostatic action,the pulp SOD activity and LPO contents were determined respectively.Under the conditions of this expriment, the results Showed that there was no abnormal lipid peroxidation in the pulp,suggesting that static magnetic fields do not affect the pulp normal oxidative metabolism;and that the pulp SOD activity were gradually increased with the prolongation of magnetostatic action time,suggesting that the magnetostatic action in proper intensity can enhance the capability of anti-inflammation,anti-oxidation and anti-ageing.
