CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF CARBOPLATINCOMBINED WITH LIFEIN IN MALIGNANT PLEURAL EFFUSION

Objective:To evaluate the effects and toxicities of carboplatin combined with lifein in malignant pleural effusion . Methods: sixty patients With malignant pleural effusion were randomly divided into 2 groups : In group A, only corboplatin was administered; In group B, Lifein ond Carboplatin were combined together to be administered. Results: In the first month , the CR rate was 81% in group and 88% in group B; After 3 moths,the CR rate was 65% in group A and 99% in group B (P0.05); After 6 months, the CR rate was 40% in group A and 60% in group B (P0.05); The6-month survival rate was 100% in 2 groups (P0.05). After 12 months the CR rate was 15% in group A and 35.6% in group B (P0.05); The 18-month survival rate was 0% in group A, 16.4% in group B .The main side effects were gastroentevic tract reacfion, thoracodynin and low fever which could be controlled. Conclusions: The curative effects of carboplatin combined with Lifein in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion is obviously superior to single carboplafin.
