Objective:Objective: To explore the method and advantages of local anesthesia and micro-incision discectomy in treatment of lumbar disc herniation. Methods: 62 cases with lumbar disc herniation were chosen form 2001.2 to 2003.12 and treated with local anesthesia and micro-incision descectomy. Results: 3 days after operation, patients could get up and undertake exercise. Complications like nerve injury, leakage of cerebrospinal fluid and haematoma were not observed. 57 cases were cured, the time was form 6-month to 3.5-year. The fineness rate was 96% according to Nakai standard. Conclusions: Local anesthesia and micro-incision discectomy is a efficacious approach for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation and the merits of this operation are little trauma, higher fineness rate, minimal damage to spinal stabilization and low cost.
