EXPRESSION AND CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF SIX1 AND E-CAD IN COLON CANCER

Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Six1 and E-cad in colon cancer. Methods: SP immunohistochemical method was used to detect Six1 and E-cad expression in 70 cases of colon cancer and 30 cases ofadjacent normal tissue; and the correlations between Six1, E-cad and the clinical pathological characteristics of colon cancer were also analyzed. Results: The positive expression rate of Six1 in colon cancer was obviously higher than adjacent normal tissue, but the positive expression rate of E-cad was obviously lower(P0.01). The Six1 and E-cad expression in colon cancer was not related to sex, age, size of tumour and differentiation degree(P0.05); But related to TNM stage and infiltration depth(P0.05). The expression of Six1 in colon cancer was negative correlated to E-cad expression(r =-0.480, P0.01). Conclusions: E-cad and Six1 maybe involved in development of colon cancer together; Moreover, E-cad and Six1 expression is closely related to poor prognosis of colon cancer.
