Objective: Cervical cancer gets highly related to Human Papillomavirus( HPV) infection. Chinese people usually use Artemisia princeps as a lotion to treat vaginal inflammation. This study wanted to know if extraction of Artemisia princeps could induce apoptosis in He La cells. Methods: He La cells were treated with different concentration of extraction of Artemisia princeps for 48 hours. Annexin V and PI was detected by flow cytometry to evaluate apoptosis. Western blotting was used to evaluate the expression of Bcl-xl. Results: Annexin V positive ratio was 2. 96% in control groups. In treatment groups, higher concentration of extraction of Artemisia princeps got higher positive Annexin V ratio,2. 92% 、3. 97% 、8. 76% 、7. 08% 、13. 1% 、19. 8%,seperately. Lower expression of Bcl-xl was also noted. Conclusion: This result means extraction of Artemisia princeps could make apoptosis in He La cells.
