Simplified Tire Model for Longitudinal Road Friction Estimation

It's important to monitor the longitudinal road friction for automotive dynamic control systems.An improved longitudinal friction model with three parameters was proposed in this paper by analyzing experimental data and Pacejka's Magic Formula,and the calculating algorithm for the unknown variables was determined.The model has the similar shape as Magic Formula,and it has fewer variables,simpler shape and lower computational complexity than the commonly used tire models.It can provide a good illustration on the non-linear rules of longitudinal tire forces changing with the wheel slip ratio and other factors.Its validity was proven by using experiments and comparison with the Pacejka Magic Formula(MF) model and others.
