Effects of Lactobacillus Derived from Fish on Degradation of Ammonia Nitrogen in Aquaculture Water

Strains Lactobacillus plantarum(L8),Lactococcus lactis(L10);Weissella confuse(L11)and Enterococcus faecalis(L14)were isolated from wild and farmed fishes and supplemented into aquaculture water by single and mixed strains as liquid culture medium(G1)and centrifugal bacteria(G2)at water temperature of 17℃,a salinity of 35 and pH of 8.3 to understand the degradation of ammonia nitrogen in aquaculture wastewater by lactic acid bacterial strains.The results showed that the ammonia nitrogen levels were decreased significantly in the waste water supplemented with lactic acid bacteria compared with those in the control group(CG),and then kept at a relatively stable level 1 day after addition of lactic acid bacteria,though without significant differences in ammonia nitrogen levels in both G1 and G2 groups.The ammonia nitrogen concentrations(ANC)were shown to be changed from 0.13—0.10 mg/L to 0.15—0.10 mg/L,treated by L8,with 24 hdegradation rate of 41.5%in group G1,and 37.2%in group G2;the ANC in the waste water treated by L10 were ranged from 0.15—0.08 mg/L to 0.16—0.08 mg/L,with 24 h degradation rate of 35.1%in group G1 and 32.5%in group G2;the ANC in the waste water treated by L11 were varied from 0.16—0.08 mg/L and 0.15—0.07 mg/L,with 24 hdegradation rate of 23.9%in group G1 and 29.27%in group G2;the ANC in the waste water treated by L14 were ranged from 0.16—0.08 mg/L to 0.18—0.08 mg/L,with 24 hdegradation rate of 29.7%in group G1 and 23.9%in group G2.The four mixed strains had lower ammonia degrading efficiency than that of the single strain.In conclusion,the lactic acid bacteria isolated from fish intestines lead to reduce to some extent ANC in culture water,with high degradation within 24 hours.The lactic acid bacteria in liquid culture medium showed the same effects compared with the centrifugal bacteria.In order to obtain additive effects upon combination of various strains,the biological characteristics and nutrient utilization should be considered.
