A strong pathogenic bacterium strain FZ2N was isolated from Taiwan loach,Paramisgurnus dabryanus ssp.Taiwan fingerlings with body length of 3 cm.The pathogen was identified as Aeromonas veronii based on the physiological and biochemical analysis and the sequencing of housekeeping gene 16 S rDNA.The Taiwan loach challenged with the bacterium FZ2N via intraperitoneal injection had LD_(50) of 1.3×10~3 cfu/g.The drug susceptibility test of 18 antibiotics by paper extension method indicated that the strain was susceptible or intermediate to quinolones, nitrofurans, aminoglycoside, macrolides and pieracillin, but resistant to cephalosporins, tetracyclines, polypeptides and lincomycin.
