Spatial information technology is the basic of flood control and hazard mitigation's modernization

In China,flood disaster occurs very frequently,and loss due to flood are very large.Flood control and hazard mitigation is a long-term and hard work.In flood control and hazard mitigation,the latest techniques are introduced actively into traditional water resources sector for realization of modernization.Spatial information technology,including remote sensing,Geographical Information System and Global Position System,can be applied to each aspect of flood control and hazard mitigation.In the paper,the function of spatial information technology in flood control and hazard mitigation are analyzed,and application trend of spatial information technology in flood control and hazard mitigation are given.
