The research of soil moisture inversion based on empirical model in Western region of China

Spatially distributed soil moisture and its change information are very important. Also,soil moisture information is a very important index for drought forecast and agricultural yield estimation. Passive microwave remote sensing techniques are one of the most effective means to monitor soil moisture. Compared to infrared and visible light,passive microwave has advantages of longer wavelength and stronger ability to penetrate. Meanwhile,passive microwave radiometer has advantages of larger monitoring area,shorter cycle,less impact of roughness,more sensitive to soil moisture and more sophisticated algorithms. At present,many approaches have been studied to invert soil moisture. The main content of this study is to study soil moisture inversion of sparse vegetation coverage area in China's western region by establishing NDVI and soil moisture empirical model with AMSR-E soil moisture image data,MODIS normalized vegetation index (NDVI) image data and MODIS classification image data. The image data used above is processed through ENVI software.
