Analysis of the relief amplitude in Xinjiang based on digital elevation model

WANG Ling①,LU Xin②(① Department of Geography of Teachers College,Shihezi University,Shihezi,Xinjiang 832003,China;② Key Lab of Oasis Ecologic Agriculture in Xinjiang Bintuan,Shihezi University,Shihezi,Xinjiang 832003,China)
The extraction Relief Amplitude provides effective means for the access to surface information and the quantitative analysis of the terrain. On the basis of the Xinjiang 1∶250 000 DEM data and previous research, with the support of the GIS system, using the neighborhood analysis, and applying mean of change-point analysis, the computation of best statistical unit is performed. Then the best statistical unit of the Xinjiang Relief Amplitude calculation based on 1∶250 000 DEM is obtained, which is the 8 × 8 mesh size(2.56km2).Finally the Xinjiang Relief Amplitude grade was drawn.Through the careful analysis on Xinjiang's geomorphologic features(Gobi,Desert,Desert, hills, mountains, etc.),Xinjiang local undulating terrain is larger, more gentle overall.
