Automatic extraction algorithm of forest fire points from MODIS imagery based on background information

MIAO Ting-ting;SHEN Run-ping;Meteorological Disasters Key Laboratories of Ministry of Education/College of Remote Sensing,Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology;  
The paper added background information to reduce false forest fire points for improving the accuracy and reliability of forest fire point extraction algorithm. It selected Wuning country,Jiangxi Province as the experimental area,automatically extracted forest fire points using MODIS data. The experiment showed that the improved algorithm could extract forest fire points more accurately,so it would better satisfy the requirements on monitoring forest fire.
