Automatic extraction method of coastal reclamation area using high resolution remote sensing images

In order to resolve the problems of low accuracy,narrow applicability and poor result for exsiting automatic extraction method of coastal reclamation area,this paper devoted to develop NDWI(Normalized Difference Water Index).And the high resolution QuickBird and HJ-1images were used as data source.Firstly,the spectral character of 5ground objects which are easy to confuse in remote sensing images were analyed.Secondly,the NDWI of 2009 and 2011 were computed separately according to the difference of spectral character between water and non-water.Finally,the coastal reclamation areas was obtained by subtracting NDWI2011 from NDWI2009,which was evaluated and verified by visual extraction results.Experiment results indicated that most coastal reclamation areas could be extracted using two temporal NDWI images,and this method could play a role in change detection for coastal reclamation.
