A method for rain gauge site selection in urban area based on kernel density

In view of traditional site selection methods do not take into account the impact of geographic surrounding on the rain gauge site selection,this paper aimed at finding the proper site selection rules and methods for rain gauge in urban area.Using spatial kernel density could take into account the geographic surrounding in site selection;GIS buffer analysis was used to optimize the location with the aid of rain gauge signal transmission character.The reasonability was validated by cross-validate method with the three-time rainfall real data.Experiment results showed that the rules and the proposed method were appropriate for the rain gauge site selection in urban area,which was significant for the site selection of urban hydology equipment such as water gauge.
