Cross-calibration for passive microwave measurement of MWRI and AMSR-E

This paper aims at the space-time biases problems of two different spaceborne microwave radiometers in the long time series of change detection research,applying the cross-calibration method of space-time matching,selecting the tropical forest of Amazon as the high brightness temperature groundbased observation target and Greenland area as the low brightness temperature ground-based observation target,adopting the time-space matching five-channel horizontal and vertical polarization brightness temperature data using the original orbit scan data of the Microwave Radiation Imager(MWRI)and the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-Earth Observing System(AMSR-E)to perform the cross-calibrate.The results indicate that the correction coefficients of determination are above 0.99 and the RMS errors of 10 frequency regression equations are all less than 1.3K,demonstrating the high accuracy of scaling factor and good fitting degree of matching data.The Precise cross calibration factor is of importance in determining the microwave calibration parameters of our country's FY3 and subsequent satellites,long time series connecting with the foreign satellites and accessing the quality of data.
