A practical self-calibrating bundle block adjustment program is introduced in this paper. The features of the program are automatic band-width computation, automatic rearrangement of all the data according to the band-width, direct composition of the reduced normal equation system, compressed storage of the reduced normal equation coefficient matrix and the recursive partitioning algorithm for the solution of the bordered band matrix. For this adjustment program several experiments have been made using areial photographs from some of the Chinese production units and also a set of the foreign HOR-DORF test fild data. It has been shown that the so designed self-calibrating bundle block adjustment algorithm is correct and effective. The results obtained from the foreign HORDORF test field data show that the compensation of systematic errors by additional parameters is efficient; while that from the aerial photographs taken by some of the Chinese production units is not quite satisfactory. The reason for the latter case is that the existing random errors in the photographs is too excessive.
