Electro-chemical Property of Source Rock and Its Significance in Log Evaluation

This paper uses experimental data to analyse relations among electro-chemical properties, rock physical properties and organic matter in source rock by statistics. It has been shown that there are normal correlations between cation exchange capacity (CEC) and electro-kinetic potential(ξ) of source rock; between CEC and intensity of natural radioactivity, richness of radioactivity elements in source rock; between CEC and richness indicator of source rock; but negative correlation between CEC and translating rate indicator of organic matter of source rock. Also, there exist normal correlation between ξ and richness indicator of source rock; but negative corrlation between ξ and translating rate indicator of organic matter of source rock. This study is of importance in buliding up conductivity model of the source rock and in evaluating source rock by using logging data.
