The conventional dual laterolog tool is widely applied to oilfield with its better focusing performance. Although its radial investigation depth is deeper, its performance to detect thin layer is worse. The modification of the electrodes of current laterolog tool and the computations of logs and pseudo-geometric factors in various formation models manifest that the configuration of the electrodes has better vertical resolution, less borehole effect and deeper radial investigation depth.
