Environmental Friendly Bath Solution and Process for Anodization of Magnesium and Its Alloys

Anodizing effects of magnesium and its alloys AZ91D and AM60B were evaluated quickly by using electrochemical polarization technology. An environmental friendly bath solution without chromate, phosphate, fluoride and any injurious ingredients, and a process based on the new bath solution were obtained and could enhance corrosion resistance of magnesium and its alloys efficiently. Compared with the film forming effect by classic processes Dow17 and HAE, the new process was more effective to improve corrosion protection of magnesium and its alloys by consistent results of electrochemistry measurements and total immersion tests.
