Preparation of Copper Nanoparticles in Microemulsion and Its Tribological Properties

The preparation of nano copper particles in microemulsion is studied with CuSO_4·5H_2O,Span-80,Tween-80,SDBS and NaBH_4 as main raw materials.The copper particles are of closely controlled size from 10 to 20nm with a small partition of conglomeration via transmission electron microscope detection.I6 nanolubricant addictive with nice dispersion is obtained by means of treating the surface of copper particle.The tribological characteristics of the I6 nanolubricant addictive are explored by four-ball friction tester and XP pin/tray friction and wear tester,and the results indicate that I6 additive performs excellent wear resistance effect.It shows that I6 makes the base oil have an increase of 28.4 percent in terms of P_B and a decrease of 77.8 percent in terms of friction coefficient,and I6 can make smaller attrition spots than the base lubricant does.
