Research on the Surface Layer of SrTiO_3 Varistor Ceramic

GAN Guoyou, WANG Jing, YAN Jikang, GUO Zhongzheng(Faculty of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Kunming 650093)  
SrTiO_3 voltage-sensitive ceramics have surface layer which thickness is about 60μm.Energy spectra show that the concentration of oxygen has a gradient from surface to inner. The oxidizing heat-treatments has an important effect to the formation of the surface layer, in this stage, the proliferation of O_2 has three forms. The chemical adsorption oxygen greatly increase the density of interfacial state, this is the main factor of the formation of grain boundary potential barrier.
