Extraction of Glycoside from Balsam Pear by Microwave Radiation

This paper reports the extract glycoside from bitter gourd by microwave radiation. Experiment conditions are varied in consecutive experiment to optimize the soaking time, and radiation power for glycoside extraction. The most efficient extraction is obtain using alcohol-water as the extract agent (1:5 ratio), a soaking time of 2h and at an input power of is 650 W (80% efficiency). A maximum extraction of 0.44% glycoside from balsam pear is obtained.
