Simulation of a 120GHz Rectangular Coupled Cavity EIO in Sub-Terahertz Waves

This paper studies a 120GHz extended interaction oscillator (EIO) using the three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation software CST and PIC. The slow-wave structure consists of 12-cavity of the rectangular reentrant ladder structure coupled-cavity and each adjoining coupling slot of the cavity is staggered. By CST, the cold-test parameters including frequency-phase dispersion, interaction impedance and characteristic impedance are simulated and calculated. Simulation results of hot-test by PIC show that the excited frequency is 120.85 GHz with the operation voltage of the beam 12kV, the per-veance 0.17μP, output peak power 465 W.
