Modeling and Simulation of Multimode Microwave Heating Applicators

Based on the commercial software COMSOL Multiphysics, microwave power efficiency is investigated, as a function of the structure and position of feed port(s), and the size and position of the samples in the applied field, and results from the simulation are compared to the current literature. The study shows that feed port position, and sample size and position have considerable influence on the microwave power efficiency, and that multi-port feeding increases the temperature-uniformity of exposed samples.
