Progress of Research on Onion-like Fullerenes

The preparation,purification and modification of onion-like fullerenes(OLFs) are introduced and a-nalyzed in detail and the recent progress of their properties and application is reviewed in this paper.Their special phy-sical and chemical properties,such as mechanical,electronic,optical,magnetic,catalytic and adsorption properties,endow them a wide range of potential applications in the areas of engineering,electronic information,energy,biomedicine,chemistry and chemical engineering,and national defense.Therefore,the physics and chemistry of OLFs and related carbon nanomaterials,including preparation,surface modification,functionalization and application,should be further explored in order to provide a reference for their actual applications.
