Research Progress in Field Emission Cathode Materials

Field emission display(FED) is a new flat plate technology with a promising prospect,and field emission cathode materials are the core of the FEDs.The hotpot of the field emission materials in recent years is summarized,including metal,silicon,diamond and related film,GaAs and GaN,etc.The new field emission materials,such as carbon nanotube,surface-conduction electron-emitter display,and Si-TaSi2 eutectic in situ composite for field emission prepared by directional solidification technology are briefly introduced,and the research and the applications of the field emission materials are forecasted as well.
