Manufacture,Characterization and Application of Magnesium Based Foams

The several preparation methods of foamed magnesium are reviewed,they are pressure infiltration technique,unidirectional solidification,investment casting,powder metallurgy technique,integral foam moulding,direct foaming of metals,vacuum foaming technique,casting around fly ash cenospheres and so on.The bionic,compression properties are also discussed to underline the great application potential of magnesium foam in the fields of automotive,aerospace,ship building and biomedical industry.The present situation of magnesium foam researches are reviewed,and some possible developing directions of Mg foam in response are put forward to the existing problems and shortcomings.
