Analysis of the Relationship Between Fracture Morphologies and Plasticity of Ti-5Mo-5V-2Cr-3Al Titanium Alloy in the Solution State

The relationships between mechanical properties and fracture morphology were studied due to the analysis of tensile fracture morphology ofΦ10mm bars of Ti-5Mo-5V-2Cr-3Al titanium alloy at certain range solution temperature.In the traditional theory of fracture analysis,when improving the solution temperature,the plasticity decreases,however the real test results are opposite.With increasing of solution temperature,the plasticity increases slowly at the temperature below the phase transition point and rapidly at the temperature above the phase transition point.Phase composition affects the mechanical properties of the material,for example,with the increasing of theβphase content,tensile strength decreases and the plasticity increases.When the solution temperature is 840 ℃,the macroscopic morphology of fracture is flat and smooth,and there are about 40μm regularβgrains in the microscopic morphology of fracture,which contributes to the plasticity of Ti-5Mo-5V-2Cr-3Al titanium alloy.
