Fabrication and Application of Porous Current Collector for Lithium Ion Batteries

Metal-based anodes are the ideal anode materials for the next generation lithium ion batteries because of their ultrahigh theoretical capacity.However,metal-based anodes suffer from huge volume expansion during cycling,which would lead to the pulverization and peeling of the electrodes.Adopting porous current collector is thought to be an effective way to accommodate the volume expansion of metal anode materials because it can greatly improve the cycling performance and energy density of lithium ion batteries by making full use of the pores and the high specific surface area.In this paper,the preparation of micro-porous,nano-porous or bimodal porous current collectors and its applications in lithium ion batteries are summarized.
