Synthesis and Visible Light Photocatalytic Performance ofα-FeOOH/MoS_2 Nanosheet Composite Photocatalyst

Theα-FeOOH/MoS_2 nanosheet composite photocatalyst was successfully prepared by a hydrothermal method.The structure of composite photocatalyst was characterized by using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),UVvis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS)and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL).The results indicated thatα-FeOOH nanorod(500 nm)were successfully coupled into the surface of MoS_2 nanosheet.The photocatalytic activity of composite photocatalyst was evaluated by the degradation of organic methylene blue(MB)under visible light irradiation.The obtainedα-FeOOH/MoS_2 nanosheet composite photocatalyst exhibited the optimal photocatalytic performance,which can degrade 98% under visible-light irradiation within 120 min.The kinetic constant of MB degradation withα-FeOOH/MoS_2 nanosheet composite photocatalyst was about 3 times as high as that of the pureα-FeOOH.According to the activity of radical trapping experiments,the mechanism of Z type photocatalyticα-FeOOH/MoS_2 nanosheet heterojunction was proposed.
