Research Progress on the Ternary Layered Ceramic Material of Ti_2SnC

MAX phases exhibit unique properties combining the merits of metals and ceramics,which has attracted considerable attention.Compared to other members of the M2 AX family,Ti_2SnC is less investigated.Ti_2SnC possesses high fracture toughness,high Young's moduli,high damage tolerance,good thermal and electrical conductivities,easy machinability,excellent thermal shock and oxidation resistance and so on.These render it potential candidates for high-temperature structural and functional applications.In this work,research process of the ternary layered ceramic Ti_2SnC including structure,theory research,preparation and properties are reviewed.Reaction mechanism through different method is analyzed,and application prospect is mentioned.
