Progress for the Effect of Electrical Parameters on the Micro-arc Oxidation Treatment and Energy Consumption

Micro-arc oxidation is a relatively new surface treatment technique,and it can be used to produce ceramic coating with excellent comprehensive properties on the surface of valve metal(Al,Mg,Ti,etc.),which can improve the surface hardness,oxidation resistance,abrasive resistance,corrosion resistance,etc.It can be seen as a promising surface treatment technology.In this paper,the mechanism of the micro-arc oxidation is summarized and analyzed.The theory of"electron avalanche"is analyzed at micro-perspective,and the effect of voltage and current density on the reaction process is put forward.The variation of the load characteristics for the oxide coating during the reaction process is analyzed at macro-perspective,and the effect of the impulse voltage,duty ratio and frequency on the reaction behavior is put forward.The effect of voltage,electric current density,frequency and duty cycle on reaction behavior and properties of the coating is discussed.Besides,the influence of electrical parameters on energy consumption is summarized.Finally,from the aspects of application in composite metal materials and the energy consumption,the application prospect and research emphasis of this technology are prospected.
