On the Properties of the Cu-Al_2O_3 Joint by the Reaction Joining with the TiAl Multilayer

The TiAl multilayers were used as mid-layers to join copper and Al_2O_3 ceramic and investigated the results of the thermal cycle test(-40—125 ℃)on the joint.The results manifested that the mechanical property was good,the joint could be divided into the copper base,the diffusion zone,the tough reacted zone and the ceramic base zone.After 500 thermal cycles,the joining area decreased and some cores could be seen in the decreasing diffusion zone,the fish-bone like structures became coarse and the shearing strength of the joint decreased obviously.
