The Properties and Fabrication of Three-dimensional All Five-directional Braided Composites

Three-dimensional(3 D)braided composites are a kind of advanced composite materials.They are widely used in the aeronautical and astronautical fields.In this paper,the advantages,usages,shortages and disadvantages of 3 Dbraided composites are analyzed,and possible routes to improve the properties of the materials are presented.A new type of 3 Dbraided composites,3 Dall five-directional braided composites are developed.The methods of making this type of preform are proposed.It is pointed that fourstep braiding which is most possible to bring about industrialization almost has no effect on the composite performances.Finally,take an example for 3 Dall 5-directional braided composites flange was taken as an example,the preparation process of material selection,mold design and curing process are discussed and designed in detail.
