Application Status and Future Prospect of Materials for Spacecraft Structures

With the rapid development of large complex spacecrafts and deep space exploration,the demand for light structural materials with high strength is extremely urgent.The advances in material science and technology such as light alloy and carbon fiber reinforced composite materials during recent years have made great contributions to the regeneration of spacecraft structures,which become the main structural materials of recent spacecrafts.The development of additive manufacturing is influencing the forms of spacecraft material structures now.This paper covers an overview of the application status of materials for aerospace structures.The basic properties,applications and problems of common metal and composite materials are discussed.Finally,combined with the research projects carried out in our institute and the emergence of new technologies,the future of structure materials applied in spacecraft is prospected.
