Research Status of Alloying Modification of Iridium

Iridium has high melting point,excellent strength and quite low oxygen permeability at high temperature.Compared with pure iridium,the comprehensive performance of the binary iridium alloys obtained by alloying modification is obviously improved.Various binary iridium alloys have been applied in the fields of high-temperature oxidation resistant materials,high-temperature structural materials and noble metal electric contact materials due to their unique performances.In order to improve the performance and reduce the cost,multi-component iridium alloys,with great development potential and designability,were developed and showed satisfied results,due to the effects of grain refinement strengthening,dispersion strengthening,barrier and protection of the surface oxide.
